Amazon offer - Non Compete clause

The amazon offer and the confidentiality agreement have a 18 month non compete clause included which is pretty broad and says you are not allowed to work for the competition. Is this standard? Have there been issues when folks have tried to move to other FANGs?

Standard nearly impossible to enforce. Illegal in California.

Thanks. How about Washington? My offer is in Seattle

Just tell them you are leaving to take a break. No body cares if you work for Google Cloud or Walmart once you join. You will be walked out immediately if you tell them you are leaving to work for competition but that is pretty much what the action they will take.

Went from AWS to Amazon Retail to Google Cloud. Wasn't an issue.

Which role at Google?

I know an AWS TAM that went to the same role at Google. No issues. I've understood from my own research that it may be more challenging for those in Sr. leadership positions.
