I recently interviewed for SDE II in AWS and got this offer: Level: SDE II YOE: 5 Base: 148K Sign-on: 45K year 1, 34K year 2 48 RSUs over 4 years (as you all know, vesting is 5%, 15%, 40%, 40%) TC: 200.000~ How good is the offer? It seems like on years 3 and 4, assuming the stock price stays at the same price, that the TC is slightly lower than on years 1 and 2 (3k less). Does anybody have an explanation for that? Amazon plans comp as if the stock will appreciate 15% a year. If it doesn’t and you have satisfactory performance you will most likely get more share for year 3 and 4.
Makes sense. Would that mean that if the stock price goes down (whether it's on year 1, 2, 3 or 4), they will give you more units in consequence?
That’s the idea but stock grants don’t vest until the following year. Also your first year you are ineligible for stock grants
