I saw people saying something like an offer for L5 SDE at Amazon can reach a TC of 250K. But is this 250K just for year 1 (including sign-on) or (base*4 + 1st sign-on + 2nd sign-on + #RSU * current price)/4? I was under the impression that the stock vesting schedule is a bit weird, so was curious how the TC is calculated... Thanks yoe: 0 tc: grad student stipend...
To calculate amazon TC set up a spreadsheet. Y1 = base + Y1 sign on + RSU Value * 0.05 Y2 = base + Y2 sign on + RSU value * 0.15 Y3/Y4 = base + RSU value * 0.4
This is the right way to calculate annual salary at Amazon
Thank you very much. I guess what i am confused is since the numbers for Y1 and Y3 can be so different, assuming RSU value is a constant here, and people say a 250k tc, is it for Y1 or Y3?
Year 1 is 95% cash 5% stock. Year 2 is 85% cash 15% RSU Year 3 is base + 40% RSU Year 4 is base + 40% RSU Year 1 and 2 cash component is base plus signon bonus **
OP, share the following: 1. Base 2. Sign on year one and sign on year two 3. Number of RSUs
Also are you getting l5 with 0 exp?
yes. phd in machine learning. have offers from facebook and google too. but not so clear how to make an apple-to-apple tc comparison between these.
Go to google Perks are better, refreshers are better Overtime you will make more at google

Not sure how people expect to make 250k without knowing how to do a simple calculation....
Exactly, new grads are the worst
