    Sorry don't understand.

    Base (180) + 1st year join (105) + rsu ( 115/4) ~= 325 for first year.

    Am I getting it wrong?

45k less than OP tho - I don’t have competing offers but I make more at my current role so tried to use that.

Did you have a competing offer OP?

280 is maxed out SDE2 range. Usually the people who get high end band TC are the ones that got a downlevel. 235 is above average and more than what a newly promoted SDE2 would get without counting any stock appreciation

So there is consensus on this thread that your offer is on the higher end for the role but confusion as to why.

Do you know the reason ?

Also doesn't it look like a downlevel? Amazon is so known to do that hy giving higher end offers for a lower band. With 8 YOE, L6 wasn't a reach or bad ask but they went with L5 so they have to put in something for a person to join!

All companies try to downlevel, not just Amazon.

Well done. Glad to see fellow Samsung go to FANGs. Proud of you!

Looks like a solid offer. Specially base looks great for Amazon. What is the max base for bay area? I know seattle is 160k.

Well he's published and holds some parents. With that new info id say he's right where he should be with room for growth.

Others have pointed out being $50k less for similar roles.

    Thanks. What’s the position ? H/W or S/W ? What specialisation ? ML or FE/BE ?

What sort of competing offers and negotiations ?

I got a recent offer at 235 and amazon friend told me that’s above avg. This seems really good if what I was told was correct.
