There is a standard Amazon on-site and a "hiring event" on-site. According to recruiter, the hiring event is 4 hiring managers and they will give you an answer within a couple of days. The regular onsite is 6 interviewers (non hiring managers?) and it can take time to get an offer/rejection. Which is more beneficial to the person interviewing. It sounds like the hiring event is better, but just double checking for any gotchas. Secondly, how is the system design interview? I'm from a different industry (finance) and I don't know much about the consumer/internet world. If I take a few days to study system by design would that be enough? My leetcode numbers are pretty low and I'd like to spend all my time on leetcode if I can. Or is system design a lot more important than other rounds?
Read the glossary part of this course and understand, and skim through few design examples: https://www.educative.io/collection/5668639101419520/5649050225344512 Good luck.
Leetcode
Hiring events are 4 interviews but not 4 hiring managers. Normal onsite for L5-L6 is 5 interviewers Since part of the interview is interviewing the team or manager, the normal onsite has a more personal touch. Hiring events you won’t really know where you go until later
Can you elaborate? How will I find out where I will go? More interviews?

I went the hiring event route. I think it’s easier since you have less people to meet with. That’s less chances to screw up but also less chances to impress. Work on breadth first search and depth first searches. Also look at binary search trees. Obviously get a well rounded algorithm foundation but that’s where I’d put my focus. As far as design, be prepared to draw a system out. Learn to diagram
