Would having Amazon or Microsoft on a resume be easier for getting interviews at other FAANGs / Unicorns. #engineering #software #swe
Amazon is actually in FAANG, so maybe that sells a bit more
FAANG is a stock term has nothing to do with prestige lol
Either way Microsoft is not in the name lol
As much as I hate amazon I feel a couple of years at Amazon make you a more capable engineer than 2 years at Microsoft or any other faang tbh. The stress and pressure here does push you and you are constantly thrown into the deep end and have to dig yourself out with little help.
Only if youre an SDE 1. Otherwise it's a crapfest
I have been here two years as an SDE 1, and it was good at first. New manager came on and its been horrible and I feel like I have a target on my back. I could change teams and am looking but never intended to stay here forever anyway. I dont Iike the work I'm doing, but I've learned a ton. Is the two year mark a good time to leave for something more in line with my lifestyle and professional goals?
The only ones voting Amazon are the people that couldn’t get into Microsoft
Most people who get into Amazon can get into MS. MS also pays less. MS has much better wlb and culture though so that's a plus but I'd pick Amazon for early SDE 1 growth.
You probably haven't seen how low the bar for amazon SDE's is. SDE 1's - Online Assessment - talk to an engineer and explain approach - offer Amazon is clearly proceeding with Hire Fast, Fire Fast approach at junior levels and compromising (a lot) on quality
Always MS

Aws/Azure > bing > retail
AWS and Azure are both in the same tier?
Care to explain why is AWS better? I worked in AWS S3 and retail. I worked on cool features in retail and S3 had mainly ops work.
