Got an offer from AWS proserve for L5 in Northern VA area. TC 210k. Current TC 190k. Almost decided to move to AWS because of Amazon brand but when I talked to the manager who I will be reporting to, he mentioned travel is going to be 75%. The recruiter mentioned travel will be around 30-40%. Obviously this is not correct as I got the 75% directly from my potential/future manager. I do not see any value to move to AWS at this moment as the 75% travel really turned me off. And my current company’s benefits are way better than those of AWS - I did the math and I will end up paying atleast 3k more per year just for my insurance with AWS. What does Blind think? Thanks! YOE 13.
Thats about right for field consultants if they get unlucky and have projects that require to be customer onsite and fully utilized. However, it is highly dependent on the project and customer. Its 2020, most customers dont mind if you work from home office and dont necessarily need you at their office. My travel in proserve is around 25-30% personally.
That’s good to know from someone at Proserve.
Is this Herndon office? If so, I propbably know what team you'll be on.

Google CFO confirms 'large-scale' layoffs (Apr 17)
Yes. Not worth it
Agreed. Only 20k more in TC, with high travel and bait-and-switch tactics used when recruiting? Tell them to kick rocks
