Amazon relocation
I heard Amazon used to pay $10k for relocation but now they are paying $7k. Can I negotiate here?

Grossed up should mean they pay the IRS the tax owing (via a withholding) and give you the post tax amount in your bank. So if you get 5k and they pay 2k to IRS the grossed up number is 7k. You shouldn't have to make any tax payment but you should ask whether the number you are quoted is the grossed up pre tax number or the actual amount you will pocket.

I know people who also have the same question. I believe the 7k is strictly after tax. The 10k before was to be taxed. You'll end up breaking even.
