Amazon scope of negotiation

I got an offer from Amazon for a L5 level for Simulation and Design Engineer Base -140k Joining Bonus of 54K RSU - 55 It seems like a lot low to me for Seattle, how much maximum can I counter the offer and how much Amazon is flexible in each component. YOE -14

Agree. This is a low offer. Good L5 would be more like 150k base, 200k bonus, 120 rsus

I could be wrong but it seems like you didn’t make the cut for L6 so they offer you 5. Ask them for some data points to negotiate. And if you ain’t in a rush to take a new gig, wait out. Promo is a b1tch that you don’t see very often.

Can you talk more about what kind of data points would help. The recruiter is just not sharing any data like why L6 was not offered. The entire process looks shady. as far as I know this position is open for several months.

I haven’t a clue here but ask for them and reason your way up

Homie you should check http://levels.fyi/charts.html

Ask your recruiter if that role is considered a technical role or not (you'd be surprised what is not). Levels.fyi reflects pay primarily for SDEs, and other roles (particularly those classified as non-tech) have different pay bands even at the same level. An Amazon L5 is not at all the same across all role titles, and the less common roles are difficult to dig up crowdsourced data on.
