Yesterday Amazon had a 5 hour outage during Prime Day, arguably the most important day for it to do well all year. I thought the stock would drop by at least $100 but it held strong. Am I missing something?
Did you short it?
Amazon can fuck up many more prime days but the market stupidity won’t stop and amazon will continue to rise.
Despite that sales beat last year in the first 2 hours. How's that stupid?
prime day never had that many great deals and isnt that big of a deal in the grand scheme of things
Another way to look at this: Demand was so goddamn strong it knocked over a major system for a few hours.
Do we know that the traffic was substantially higher than last year? It could have been the systems were more fragile than before.
Stock price is not because of one day of the year. The rise and growth of amazon is because of its CONSTANT, PREDICTABLE, ALMOST GUARANTEED revenue and revenue growth, ability and potential to capture every single market, returning customers etc.
Right, but events in a day can cause a temporary dip, which is what op was expecting instead of a (probably) temporary spike. It'll probably lower itself a bit over the next week, but continue to consistently grow over the year.
It did go down yesterday. But then reports came out that even after the event, prime day 2018 is already bigger than 2017 🤷🏻♂️ so...
