Just finished a phone interview with an amazon recruiter where we mostly talked about my projects. He did ask me some programming questions. It all went really well. Two things he said that felt weird to me: 1. They are not gonna need a Technical Phone interview and instead will "just send a programming test". 2. On mentioning that I would need a senior role he mentioned that makes sense, he will be in touch and offered to coach/practice interviews Whats the takeaway here? 1. Aren't phone interviews with a person better than hammering on a online assessment? 2. Since when do recruiter do coaching for the roles? #amazon #recruiter #phoneinterview
If you just did the recruiter screen, how can it be "another" technical interview?
2. That might be a prep call
I’ve had #2 with square, if it’s anything like yours, it won’t be helpful, they just tell you to communicate more and all that good stuff you’ve probably already read about
Assessments reduce the workload for interviewers. No need to waste an hour interviewing you if you cant pass the assessment. There would be a tech interview at onsite. Recruiters always coach before an onsite interview. It's called a prep call.
Since they are under a lot of pressure to meet their metrics.
Thats the impression I had with that sentence but want to validate with Amazonians if this is a thing now.
