Amazon to Google?

Any thoughts? Bay area HW position, IC5 I think. What should I be expecting for TC for such a position? I got offered ~200k, which seems meh. I'd be going horizontally, no title bump, and TC is a bit less than I'm making now. Anybody else made the switch, and recommend it? Edit: currently L5 at Amazon. Been here 5 yrs. Was hoping I'd be in running for a level bump soon, but apart from vague comments from my boss, nothing has happened.

I'm sure Google's hardware team is new so more scope to grow. Amazon's HW sucks honestly. If you were at Apple HW then yea the move would be a bit tricky! So, yea go for it.

200k looks like 4

Even for HW eng?

Get that job and 1year of experience. Both Amazon+Google looks much better on your resume than only Amazon.

Yeah that was my thinking as well. I worry I loose out on my time here tho. I've been at Amazon 5 years, and was hoping I'd be in the running for a level bump soon

Diverse experience counts a lot more. Unless you are confident that you will clear the Google interview next time as well. In that case, apply again after you get the promotion. Just my opinion. I joined Amazon recently and love working here.

L4 or L5

I'm not sure, they didn't give me the level. I'm currently l5 at Amazon.

That’s the first thing to ask even before TC

Can't you negotiate with Google? Seems like they would at least match if not raise the offer based on your current TC.
