Would love to know if there’s any ex-Amazonians out there that have gone to Netflix? How has the transition been work culture wise and is it just as challenging or even more than Amazon? I know this depends on what team and role you get into, but any insight would be great to hear.
Netflix in LA is one of the high paying places in LA. So far no one has been able to match Netflix
Thoughts on Netflix vs Snap? I thought Snap was a dying business after 2017/18 but seems like they’re tapping into international markets and the younger teen demographic. I want to make sure wherever I jump to that it’s still a competitive/progressive company, I just don’t know much about Snap. TC there sounds enticing though.
Snap is a risky business. It seems Instagram has been able to just copy any good idea Snap has and apply it on a bigger user base. What's Snap's moat?
FB also created Threads that is a direct copycat of Snap. Not sure how successful that will be, but I agree it seems to not have a lot of advantages over IG. Do you feel like Netflix has advantages significant advantages over the other streaming services that they are competing agains (Prime Video, Hulu, HBO)?
Appreciate the input! Fingers crossed I make it to that point with Netflix when I’m ready to apply lol. Thanks everyone for your help!
Best decision I have ever made. I was stressed all the time at Amazon for reasons outside of my control. I get way more done at Netflix with much less stress.
That’s how I feel at Amazon no matter what team I’ve been on. That’s great to hear, are you in tech or non-tech at Netflix?
Hey! I was evaluating Netflix too but hear they are hire and fire. And they let go of people on a whim. And that it’s all manager driven. Is that true? I was apprehensive to consider Netflix as they pretty much state that you need to be a superstar at all times and are clear they are not about stability. Would be keen to know from you on this aspect
It’s night and day coming from Amazon, at least as an SDE. I work maybe 3/4 as hard, get paid 50% more (even taking state tax into account), have a lot more control over what I want to work on and am recognized for the work I do way more
I’m in non tech at Amazon in the Creative department, but any input is helpful! Did you go from Seattle to LA/Los Gatos? I was wondering how people leverage TC at Amazon with Netflix TC especially coming from Seattle where the state tax isn’t as high.
