Offer from Amazon ML services team vs Apple Siri sdk. Apple TC is better but work seems more challenging at Amazon. What would you guys pick and why? Both positions in Bay area. I would have to work harder for lesser pay but potentially bleeding edge technology. (Edit : ml related backend services)
Looks like you know the answer
Make sure you talk to an engineer if you can. IDK about Apple but Amazon managers tend to show a great picture about their work and it's not always true. With that said, I've heard the 'real' ML stuff happens in the Bay Area, so you should be in better shape. For Seattle it's only supporting these teams.
Is this for an SDE role at Amazon? If so, don't expect to do any ML work, but instead support scientists and ML engineers. There's this new role ML engineer which sounds promising but what you'd actually work on mostly depend on the team. Also, ML services doesn't sound bleeding edge IMO. Probably backend development that happens to be ML related. Again, clarify what you would be working on in the next 6-12 months

Apple. Amazon ML I heard it was all about supporting as mentioned, and how to help customer use our products.
Bleeding edge, lol
As a dev on Amazon ML you will work on distributed systems that host a bunch of algorithms that support a service. And you will get burnt out as f$@k... the org is thankless and had 0 character.
Can you share what team you're on and how long you've been there? ... Asking for a friend. Thanks!
Lol
Apple is a fashion brand. Apple hasn't been a true technology company for going on 30 years.
Nor had Amazon ever. Copying and pasting open source and reference design around is neither fashion or technology.
Amazon is doing groundbreaking work in NLP, image recognition, robotics, et cetera. We are generally considered among the top 5 tech firms to work for alongside Facebook, Google, Netflix, Uber et al
Please post the TC breakdown of both offers or GTFO
