Same SWE level, similar comp, based in SF, each for an avg backend team. Which would you choose?
Those voting for Twitter care to elaborate? From my exp here don't see much upside other than wlb, but may be spoiled
Databricks... many (not all) of the people are wicked smart, but remarkably humble and refreshingly open to important discussions without the bureaucracy of hierarchies limiting who can participate. There's strong financial upside potential in addition to some pretty cool projects/challenges. It's not a panacea, but it is a uniquely positive place to work IMHO.
I mean it’s rose tinted glasses currently as everything is on the up and up.
Agreed. It can't be this great forever, so why not enjoy it and learn a ton while it does last?
Depends on what you want. If you want personal growth and financial upside, Databricks. The scale we are operating at and growth (many backend services are 10x growth yoy) is impressive and presents tons of opportunities for learning.
That’s impressive. I’m looking for opportunities in Amsterdam. Do you mind to share which team is better?
If services, jobs or storage. If low level optimization, runtime.
@OP: which one did you choose? Do you regret the decision? In the similar boat, would love to hear your thoughts!
Which product do you like the best? Go with that
