Amazon vs Google
Folks, how stressful is work at Google? It’s been a dream for me to work there but after Amazon I changed my view in work. Amazon was so much f.... stress, it’s unbelievable. I don’t want to get burned up again - do Googlers have less stress than amazon? It’s not just hours, it’s the attitude of co workers, the backstabbing, non supportive management, OLRs and the dev lists.
Yeah google is defining a better place for non- achievers, if they could get in somehow.

Don’t get me wrong. Google is an awesome place for high achievers as well. They just could drag more non-achievers than Amazon.

My experience with Amazon has been basically bad... Horrible culture, horrible recruiters... Only company I happily withdrawn my application after passing L6 round

Ping me for more details. Moved from Amazon to Google and never looking back. G is really good. You will have really good set of colleagues who are very courteous. Comp has been very good as well. In amazon I always use to fight with my manager after perf. But in G, perf discussion lasts for a min, because G pays a per your performance. If you are high achiever, then G is definitely better place than amazon. My teammate got promoted 3 times in last 3 years. He started as L3 and he is L6 now. So there are no limits in G.

Sounds like bs. L5-L6 is already insanely difficult to do in 3 years at G, no way you're going from L3-L6 in 3 years. I could see L3-L5 in 3 years if coming in as a downleveled L3, then jumping 4/5 in 1yr/2yr but that timeframe for L6 is way too short. You'd be the best engineer within Google hands down to have that sort of impact within just 3 years.
Know many colleagues who went over. Consistent feedback is it's really easy to be the most productive person on your team. Most people come in late leave early and get almost nothing done.
I have seen countless posts on blind where people say Google is better in all of these ways. There are some who will disagree but theirs is a minority view point. This is part of what makes Google a higher tier company.
