Received two Software Eng offers in Seattle. Amazon offer - $205k tc Zillow offer - $235k tc 3 yoe after college, L61, current tc - $165k Which one would you choose and why? I’d prefer good wlb and job security and also want career growth in the long run without taking a lot of workload and being stressed out too much now.
Bro why Seattle? Come to Bay Area A9. Your current Amazon offer should recalculate to 245K TC easily. And you will get your wlb. This is what I did and I'm super happy.
And you can kiss that extra money goodbye in taxes and difference in cost of living. But if it makes you or anyone else happy then I can't hate.
Taxes aren't that bad, man. When you calculate, you're taking more home in Bay Area than Seattle.
My suggestion is join the amazon boot camp for a couple of years and forget about wlb. Then get your pick of companies that offer wlb and growth. Again also depends on which team in Amazon.
Based on your preferences you already know which one to pick.. 😉
You will learn a lot at Amazon, not much at Zillow. Since you are young, factor that in. In three years, you are far more valuable coming from Amazon than coming from Zillow.
What the hell 3 yrs making 235k. No one (except fang) ready to pay me 300k for 12 yrs exp in bay
Sorry to hear that :( I guess competing offers and aggressive negotiations might help you achieve your tc goal!
Take Zillow. Amazon’s poor wlb and benefits aren’t worth it.
Pick Amazon. Only Amazon gives you unlimited work, a perk you shouldn't miss.
You can stop by any microoffice and pick up a free assignment
Whats the break down of the zillow offer?
What did you end up with ?
If u want wlb... what are u even asking for.
I’m a bit confused about how Zillow will look in the resume and the growth and learning opportunity there compared to Amazon.
This is about your work and not optics of which brand name looks better on resume. It’s not like Zillow is a bad name to be associated with.
