Dating for Marriage is Hard
I'm applying for a few Amazon positions, and I make far less money than we typically hear about. Do the modestly-paid employees not have the legendarily stressful working conditions that we also hear about? I'm looking to make more money, of course, but to an even greater extent I'm looking to escape the stressful environment I work in and do something more laid back. Amazonians making mid-five-figures, what's it like for you? Are you thinking, "I wish I made six, but I wouldn't want their lives"?
TC doesn’t really influence your WLB. Your team influences that the most.
Just what I was hoping -not- to hear ☹️
No, it hasn't been worse than other tech companies that paid much less. Take the money, find a good team, be quick to jump to another team.
That said, you say you are looking to escape a stressful environment. If $100-200K higher compensation doesn't help with that, Amazon may not be your thing.
I had been presupposing that my ordinary salary would follow me there and was hoping that maybe we not-so-highly paid people could at least enjoy less pressure to perform. If they offered me 100k+, I'd be pretty motivated to deal with the stress that comes with the money!
Not knowing your current compensation, hard to say, but I think it is likely Amazon would be a drastic improvement.
Mid level 5? You mean non tech then... Most people here talk about tech ...
I do data analysis and operations; an Excel monkey basically. I suppose that's non-technical by today's standards. Either way, what are the demands like?
:) I’m joining in 2 weeks 😂will let you know then
