You will never see anyone “lose their job” to an h1b candidate. It doesn’t work like that. But obviously salaries would be much much higher if there was no h1b visa (and there’d be far less competition for jobs), that’s just math, nothing political.

Happens all the time. Employees have to train their H1B replacement before being fired. It doesn’t happen at the FAANG tier companies, but happens often at smaller companies chasing cost savings measures with head shops.

But you’re oblivious if you think H1Bs never take American jobs. Because they do. It’s not a manufactured talking point.

    • Lol at responses from triggered H1Bs in this post, who don't know how basic supply & demand works. Maybe we should have a basic education and test and an IQ test before issuing H1Bs.

Pretty sure Amazon won't treat it's engineers like crap if it didn't have a glut of h1bs to churn and burn through

  • No. Despite H1-Bs every tech company is hiring engineers

I know 2 tech founders who started with little savings. They had no funds to pay $300k for an engineer, and not enough time/resources to train someone, so the obvious choice was to get work done overseas. Now they have a tech team of 20 engineers, all overseas, because they cant afford to hire them here. Their plan is to setup a small team here only after they close on a big funding.

    • lmao poor tech dude bro founder that has 20 slaves, err i mean engineers working for him in some shit hole.

pardon me if i don't sympathize with his troubles.
      >ughhh my software engineers are too expensive. government do something about that! brb my gardener is asking for a raise, have to threaten to deport him again.

talk about being the most privileged piece of shit there is.

  • I personally know two people who were “laid off” and asked to train their h1b replacement. Neither poll option applies, since I don’t think we should end the program.
