Has anyone used the Amex platinum travel card? I’m looking to sign up for a travel card but didn’t get approval for the Chase Sapphire preferred. Looking for pointers on advantages of the American Express. Photo enclosed below..(please ignore expiry date)
What’s your credit profile look like? I know Chase has the 5/24 rule, but I wouldn’t imagine if you’ve gotten denied by Chase that you’d be approved by Amex for a higher-tier card.
How do I interpret 5/24 ?

I have it. It's useful if you fly a lot
If you can’t get approved for chase. Amex won’t work either.
False
Not true. I’ve Amex with me, they sent me this offer themselves 🙂
Call Chase for reconsideration and you might still get it. Amex Platinum’s annual fee is too steep. I only sign up for the signing bonus and cancel after a year. How are you going to use the card?
It is really good. - Uber credits, - has all the lounge access, Amex lounges are much nicer. - 200$ airline travel credit Just close your account after a year to avoid the fees.
Go to a physical Chase branch and you’ll get approved
Let me try that
Any other considerations?
I've never missed a payment and make over 300k a year and chase rejected my online application. Fuck chase.

28 terrorist worshipping idiots just got themselves fired and I've never been prouder to work at Google.
google search is for friend for comparisons. if you’re traveling much, it might make more sense to go with an airline credit card instead, depending what you want to optimize for.
