Brother beaten severely as a kid. Doesn’t speak to dad at all now.
How much each year? What kind of morale events?
🤔 At least 10 bananas per employee per year
Tissues to wipe up the tears on your desk are free
Amazon doesn’t believe in building morale. You come work for Amazon if you are a particular type of person - extremely motivated, fast-paced disruptor, who can’t wait for things to happen faster, bigger, better. If you need morale boosting events you chose the wrong company. Take some ownership for your decisions.
No such thing
Depends on the team. My team had a few events over the last year from hitting up bars to having picnics. We have a variety of snacks available most days and a monthly happy hour with food and beer. Our team is pretty tight-knit, we go out to lunch with each other every day so that's kind of team building, just without Bezos' credit card. Also, there's a company wide summer picnic every year where Amazon rents out the entire Seahawks stadium for carnival games, food, alcohol and general fun. It's nothing worthy of envy, but to be real some of us don't need all that much.
Just organize them yourself and expense it. Ask for forgiveness and tell them you are keeping retention higher. It costs an average of 10k to hire someone so the cost is easy to justify. I’ve spent probably 5k+ this year on events, no one has blinked an eye.
Once a year they pass a donation jar around for employees to fund morale. Amounts to a few dozen bananas
As an ex amazonian-Amazon and morale? They have health insurance that covers depression treatment.
