RSU selling

I’m new to the world of RSUs and wondering if I should jump ship to a company which offers it.

So my question is can you sell your rsus anytime? Which company does and doesn’t allow immediate sell of rsus?

    You can sell vested RSUs anytime during certain trading windows. They do this to prevent insider trading.

    For Google, generally if you are below L7, you can sell vested stocks anytime other than the first month of the quarter (because in the first month, they do the earning call for the previous quarter). But there is an option to always sell full on the vesting regardless of vesting schedule (auto sell option, officially called employee trading option some blah blah code)

    That said, I highly recommend selling exactly half your stocks of each vesting and diversify.

    Unless you’re on a partner track, you probably should jump to a company that offers RSUs…. (As a former Deloitte Consultant).

  • At LI for most there's no trading window. Sell any time.

  • You can’t sell RSUs at startups because there isn’t a public market. Most late stage or “pre-IPO” startups offer RSUs instead of stock options
