Android vs ios

I just switched to android phone after using ios for more than 4 years. I see that the UI / UX in many of the apps is not as clean / sleek as ios. Also, many of the apps crash here. Never had that problem with ios. Anybody else noticed this ? Do companies invest more in ios development or its just that ios makes it look more sleek. Thoughts ?

When it comes to iOS, I think the way people make applications are a bit more controlled through Apple and the frame they work in. However, people who have to develop for Android have a much broader range of hardware and screen size. This higher variation can make some things unstable. It’s not bad it’s just more open. It’s the nature of Android.

I work at Play and things will change in couple of years. I had to switch from iPhone to Pixel(nature of development:) Found couple of issues, put in my to-do list. I was really happy with import process from iphone

I doubt it. Android suffers from the same problem Windows does. Cheap OEMs and billions of hardware configurations with buggy drivers

Microsoft LPiV33 Dec 29, 2017

Ditto! Ios doesn’t do lot of things and not very customizable like android. But whatever it does, it does the best. After years of frustration of android I finally gave up. I am happy now with my iphone. when I was in android I used to get error like “camera is disconnected”, well the f that suppose to mean? It was laggy like hell. I will never go back to that dark and depressing world

I came from android. Good platform, but iOS is just so much more polished overall. Of course there’s a smaller sandbox for developers, but the development tools are the best.

Xcode is awful. Do yall keep the good tools for yourselves?

I️ think as a general rule if it’s an app that is the main revenue source for the company, and it’s a smaller team, you’ll see more of a discrepancy between the iOS and Android apps due to the split of revenue between platforms. For us at one point I️t was around 5:1 in favor of iOS, so obviously that’s where you’ll put dev resources. I️ actually prefer the look and feel of android and its apps, despite being an iOS user. I’ll probably be making the switch on my next phone purchase, Android has come a long way since I️ first started doing mobile work ~6 years ago.

That makes no sense

Go back to iOS dude, I was literally in the same place. Samsung makes horrid phones, voice issues, texting issues, speaker phone issues, microphone issues, half assed features, buggy OS, the OS it’s self is NOT secure. Shotty apps as you have found.. It’s simple. Apple you have 1 player making the device, from the hardware to the OS. Android you have multiple players, you have the hw manufacture, android, and the the hw manufactures shotty customized OS on top of androids OS, which makes for lots of issues, bugs, and lack of support from either party. If your gonna stay with droid, at least go with pixel, and minimize the players involved. Samsung is a joke : /

Samsung is not the best Android manufacturer IMHO: Go for a Google Pixel or a OnePlus 5, you'll get the right Android experience for a better price

Microsoft NoodleZ Jan 2, 2018

Hearing good things about OnePlus 5, still probably not as secure as iOS (although I’ll admit that’s an assumption being made)
