I've been working at a company for almost a year and been a top performer. It seems to have put a target on my head, though. And other people at the company have done things that have really started to make me mad. I had a woman chew me out and a girl from HR take me off the new hire mixers, among others. I have gotten mad back when these things happen. And since I deliver, the company takes it. But it seems to be sending me down an unhappy and often angry road. Anyone have advice? This company is not FANG level, so please don't take this as bragging. 1yoe 85k

what did "a woman" chew you out for? what is her function in relation to you? and to the HR person? what is the HR person's specific function and relation to you? how sure are you that the reason you think you have a target on your back, is that you are a high/top performer?
We have big, tight deadlines and I was loaned to her team. She is a PM. And I was going back and forth to my desk in another building to help on another project.i was also building a complex feature for her, and she tore into me saying I was not working eight hours. Really pissed me off. The deadlines make her rabid. I got a $10k raise after bringing a big project to production when the rest of the team was moving slowly. People were thankful, but then some learned about the raise and got salty
lol. if you're demolishing your deliverables like it sounds, and you got such a sizable raise within your first year, you might be a 10xer in a land of 1xers. you are either making them look bad, work harder, or both. tight deadlines, especially ones from a different team that you are temp helping with, are not your problem. PM or her boss (or further up) is setting unrealistic deadlines. more over, you delivered anyway. culture sounds a bit toxic, maybe just on those teams. perhaps look for a new role farrr away from them. but if that's business as usual for the entire org, i would say keep killing it and start looking outside.
Calm down. People will tolerate u if u get things done only as long as the HAVE to. The moment they get a chance to kick u out. They will, if they don’t like u. Sadly.
I agree. I think we will have a lot of work far into next year. And I don't want to be mad. I see it as outside forces. Not my own temperament
No matter what. If people don’t like u (be it a function of jealousy or u being a dick or a combination) they will find a way to get rid of u. Sadly not everyone cares about company needs. They care more about their own position and environment
Why did you call out gender of the two ppl who called you out and/or held you accountable? A woman and a girl... ??Curious if women bring on a stronger anger reaction. My advice if your are interested, get really honest with yourself about how you tend to react and decide to make changes. No excuses, no rationalizations, no, it’s them, not me...stop doing the same thing and expecting a different result. You recognize you are heading down a wrong road. That’s excellent. Now make a plan for responding differently to predictable triggers. If you have rage issues, good idea to get help with a therapist in uncovering root cause. Hope you know they won’t keep taking it. If your behavior starts causing morale issues and others quit rather than work with you, you’ll be fired.
I appreciate this response. I have been thinking about therapy. The gender element is real. Women do make me angrier but I feel their actions are nastier. Plus, I'm a decent looking guy so I think it irks them

You don't need to put up with that work environment for that TC. Put in your hours at work, update your LinkedIn, and start interviewing for a better offer. Shoot for $150k
I agree, but I'm getting thrown at big projects. I like the work. And I live in Minneapolis so $85k is not half bad

Wow I hope I never get to work with guys like you. Perhaps if you didn't view those coworkers as "girl" or "woman" but a "person", you will be less mad. Also how are you 27 with only 1 yoe.
I say woman because she is in her 40s and girl because she is 22- 25. I have a degree in writing and learned how to code after working in sales and as a writer
