I am interviewing for a top tech company in South Bay. The hiring manager liked me but gave a feedback that I should pause consistently while answering and not be verbose. He forwarded my profile to his Director who will interview me next saying that this is something I can improve on. How do I ensure this? Just pausing after 2 minutes and asking “Do you have any questions” will feel robotic. Also most people when asked about any questions, they will usually say they will stop me in case they needed to (Back to Square 1). In summary, you to explain something for 5 minutes without the other person loosing interest? This is any interview so I can’t ask questions to engage.
Slowing down speech and adding pauses control the flow better and is considered more persuasive.
Two minutes of you talking is enough to put me to sleep. Next.
Which company?
huh? of course you can ask questions to engage. it seems to me the advice is in your interest. you may have verbal diarrhea no one likes that. what he’s probably telling you is to compose your thoughts into something coherent rather than just rambling on and on to fill dead air.

Interview is not a "Talk", but a conversation. Think that way. How'd you carry on a discussion with your friends or a colleague... Pause, track their expression...
