Anxiety/breathing/stomach cramps

I have been trying to deal with anxiety for a while now. Everything from my relationship (which I am very happy in) to my job, to my life is making me anxious. I honestly at this moment have nothing to complain about in my life. I have simple tastes. I earn some money and I save enough, I have people that love me and I live comfortably and debt free. TC centric ppl here might say things about me working at Intel and tell me to TC or GTFO but I dont care about that right now. I just don’t. I want my anxiety to get in control and thats it. I have been to a couple of therapists sessions and the lady said I need to see a psychiatrist and suggested prescription medication. I don’t know what to do. I’m worried about the effects of the medication. I was wondering if any of you have tried CBD oils? I just need help cuz I’m freaking out and I don’t know if i can trust the doctors here. I get so anxious I get brain fog, weakness in my whole body, stomach cramping up and a heavy knot in my chest. I sleep with it, wake up with it. There will be 1-2 days if I’m lucky in a week which will be bearable.

Sorry to hear that. Is your blood pressure alright? Also all immigrants have some level of anxiety to some degree. Living in a foreign country away from family in a land with different types of people, environment and language (or accent) can make your brain work constantly and cause anxiety. When I visit India, I found people over there looked much more happy than Indians in US.

Go to Rite aid or visit primary care doctor to measure yours. Blood pressure impacts mood as well as physical health. Well it is sort of chicken and egg problem. Your stress would have increased blood pressure. Don’t eat anything after 5pm. Now I read that you might be a young female. Yours look serious. Do all of what others recommend but you may want to see psychologist for full evaluation. Psychiatrist looks at people with more serious issues which will need medication. Schedule for the visit now because it may take a while before you can see any of them.

Try meditation? Also, listening to relaxing music helps me wind down my day.

Have you tried meditation? I use an app called Calm and it’s very good. Alternatively, I read about this motto sometime ago and I follow it a lot now. I found it to help with my anxiety. Whenever something is bothering me, I ask myself, “will this matter 5 years from now?” If it doesn’t, I let it go completely. If it matters, I try to be active about it and deal with it head on to get it over with.

Your rational mind, your thinking, is a tool that can be used to solve abstract problems. If you use it too much and don’t let it go, then it will start to consume your life. You’ll invent problems when there aren’t any and then endlessly obsess over them creating anxiety because there is no solution. Your anxiety starts with a simple thought. It is a thought that initially occurs in your mind, you believe in this thought, and by paying attention to it and responding to it emotionally you allow it to spiral out of control. Your thoughts affect how you feel, and how you feel affects your thoughts. Therefore when you try to think your way out of anxious feeling you attempt to solve it as a problem with rational thinking and analysis, but the thought/feeling has no parameters, no options, so by definition it is unsolvable. You’re playing whack-a-mole and getting stressed out because these moles keep popping up. You can simply stop playing, let the thought go, and shift your attention. The solution here is to start meditating, learn how to let go of rational mind, and switch to direct intuitive perception. It is the same as being here and now, enjoying this moment, but it doesn’t come from DOING something, it comes from NOT doing. Via meditation you start to feel a sense of separation between yourself, your thoughts and your feelings. Instead of feeling like thoughts and feelings are happening to you (and so there is a problem because they need to be dealt with), it starts to feel like it is just happening - thoughts and feelings come and go (and so there is no problem, you’re in a constant state of change). It would’ve helped to know what it is that you’re anxious of.

CBD and magnesium citrate are both great for short term treatment. Long term though see a dietician as well as a personal trainer, your mind doesn't exist in isolation and there's a lot of "body" related stuff that will absolutely wreck your mental wellbeing. If you're not eating right for your specific body there's no way your mind is going to have the right fuel. If you're not physically fit with a strong mind/body connection then your brain is much more likely to misinterpret various internal signals it receives. After you've got those in check then go ahead and see the psychiatrist (assuming you can still perform your regular daily tasks alright currently, otherwise get the meds so you can function first).

Therapy helped me but it took a while. Think a year or more, not just a few sessions. I also did medication but only for a short while. It helped but was only a short term fix. Everything else in this thread is great too. Mindfulness meditation is very helpful but also takes some time and patience (everyone sucks at it, keep doing it)

I have anxiety too. Therapy works as long as you make steps towards finding the root cause and getting tools to deal with it, it won't make it go away, that part you need to do yourself. Therapy offers guidance. And I would recommend trying medication, if you don't see any change despite going to therapy regularly and meditating and whatever else you can try, I would suggest giving medicine a try. Sometimes you can condition yourself so hard that your brain makes very strong neural connections on anxiety triggers, and despite your best efforts you might need some chemical to help you rewire those thoughts. Side effects haven't been bad, at the start you'd think you feel things but it is most likely your anxiety making shit up again. At best you'll get a bit sleepy for a small bit, or in rare cases lose concentration more easily, but is not like you cannot think, is more like, say, for coding, you can get interrupted and out of the "zone" a bit easier.

Try joining an exercise class which you enjoy and make some friends! It will take ur mind off these things and keep yourself occupied .. doctors will prescribe unwanted stuff..talk to your family doctor back home before starting medication

Go and see a doctor as soon as possible. Get help. And meditate daily and make it a habit.
