Regardless of what I think of Trump as a person, I voted for him because:

I would rather talk with Russia than go to war with them.
I would rather risk offending someone than be too politically correct to confront problems.
I would rather we spend on infrastructure than on handouts.
Who doesn't want lower taxes?
Etc...

I am disappointed that fellow Americans will call me a you-name-it-IST because I voted for the person I believe will be better for our country. It's really depressing after a while. After seeing so many anti-Trump posts here, I hope this post might give other supporters a moment of positivity and comfort that they are not alone. Any constructive thoughts?

  • Op you're a moron, here's why:
we weren't going to war with Russia to begin with. we put sanctions on Russia for a reason.
WTF does offending someone have anything to do with solving problems? Or the president? they're just giving fucking speeches you dipshit.

  • You libs live a life of contradiction. You preach tolerance for alternative views, but are demonstrably the least tolerant of opposing views. You call Trump a sexist, but embrace destructive hip hop culture and objectification of women in Hollywood. You claim you want unity, but constantly divide us all into hundreds of social/economic groups. You claim you support equality, unless it happens to benefit a white man. You claim Trump will destroy America, while your people actually destroy and vandalize American businesses and store fronts. You rail against Wall Street for being the wealthiest 1%, while rallying behind moron celebrities with egregious wealth and wasteful spending habits. Your overused insults (racist, sexist, bigot) are as boring as your white guilt trips -- it has become background noise and irrelevant to any public discourse. Your liberal media has been exposed, embarrassed and discredited. Under your hero Barack Obama and your PC policies you've lost record numbers of senate, congressional, and gubernatorial seats. Your tired liberal rhetoric is not relevant at this point and you really have nothing to offer for the next 4 years. It's time to sit down, shut up and watch the new leadership Make America Great Again.

    • how is that a justification for being uncouth? A president should be the guiding light for his people.

  • I feel for you. Your intentions were good. You exercised your fundamental right. But ended up voting for a dishonest, intolerable narcissist that happens to be a sexist and a racist. Your reasons are not as rational as you think.

It's not like war with Russia was part of Democrat's policy. Everyone likes to talk than fight. That's common sense. But let us not forget that the sanctions were put in place for a reason.
Isn't it bizarre for a president-elect to strongly go after his own country's intelligence agencies to defend Russia, when the evidence clearly showed their involvement? Do you really believe he's doing all this out of selfless concern for the country?

What does problem solving have to do with calling minorities terrorists, rapists or fat pigs?

Is that stupid, expensive wall considered infrastructure too?

Everyone wants lower taxes. Even better, NO taxes. But is that good for the country over the long term? His tax policy benefits the rich the most. Good for him and his family. We will end up paying much more to the government over the years to make up for the deficit.

We can go back and forth on these issues. But that doesn't help anybody. The candidate you supported won. Savor the moment. After you do that to your satisfaction, if you can, try to hold him accountable on his promises to make the country better and speak out when you need to. Rather than defend his every ill-advised action like some of his misguided supporters do.
