Yes, switch for the right reasons. Being a PM is not easy and requires an entirely different skill set. As a dev, you may feel PMs have it easy, not true at all.

I was a dev. Transitioned into PM role 3 years ago. Totally different skill sets are needed. Like others said, first have a clarity on why you want to make that jump. As a Product guy you need to be able to set a right vision for the product, identify the tactics you think would make it successful, sell it to everyone and of course execute on it. You should think, talk and look at metrics all the time. PM who can discuss tech are auto respected by engineering.
