Anyone working at a cloud / big data / dashboard startup or established company that feels their company culture really values and collaborates well with UX design and research? My experience with Google Cloud is that it has great design talent which is rarely supported or respected by engineers and PMs. Cloud leadership is focused on signing up more large clients via contracts rather than improving the UX of cloud tools to be better than Azure or AWS. #Databricks #Snowflake #Confluent #datadog #mongodb #pagerduty
although we are behind, Databricks recently started caring a lot about UX and FE engineering.
Awesome. I’m familiar with Databricks and the current UI. Can you tell us more?
Databricks really got the importance of great UX but early on had no idea how to do it/hire for it. After the snowflake IPO we’re more famous and managed to hire quite a few great FE eng/designers and it shows. https://databricks.com/blog/2021/10/21/simplifying-data-ai-one-line-of-typescript-at-a-time.html
What you are describing at GCP sounds similar to AWS. Is this culture imported from AWS?
I think it’s a results of massive hiring from MSFT, AWS, Oracle, etc…. But also just a top down emphasis on sales rather than product or UX quality
Come to snowflake! We need more designers and actually care about our ux
What’s the TC like at snowflake?
