Will be joining Amazon soon. Haven't see a single post out there with good things about working at Amazon. So instead of making this an Amazon bashing contest, wanted to check if there is anybody who is happy working for Amazon. Would appreciate if you can mention your role and how long you have been working there
TC?
sde2, been there 1.5 years, working on cool shit with a good mix of people smarter/more experienced than me and people less experienced. totally team dependent
Amazon has some of the worlds worst management
Haha having just interviewed for a management position and being rejected after a 40 min phone call that, objectively, was very straightforward... this statement isn't surprising 😑 It's too bad I guess, there are good leaders out there that sincerely want to make things better...
Yes, it is so terribly managed that the stock keeps doubling every few years. They really need to fix that and learn to manage like every other company.
At first, I loved it. Then my upper management changed, and things went downhill. It depends very much on the group.
It's a sewer cesspool
It’s a great place but isn’t for everybody. Strong people tend to leave because they can make more $$ outside. Lately there has been a lot of people that are resting/vesting as if they joined in 2013-2016 their stocks have gone anywhere from 3x-5x. High performers aren’t really benefiting because of their performance but rather because of the stock price which even average performers are benefiting from. Lots of reorgs and change in management/teams.
Yes, very happy. Almost 2 years, SDE2.
I will be joining AWS as sde2 soon. Really demotivating to see so many folks bashing amazon work culture. It's making me very nervous about leaving my current job which has absolutely excellent wlb. Having said that I'm willing to go out of comfort zone if I get opportunities to work on cool and interesting stuff. Fingers crossed.
It will definitely be an upgrade from Intel. Best thing about Amazon is that there sooo many cool problems to solve. Worst thing about Amazon is that incompetent people are managing those projects/problems.
Indeed, we are cut throat but still more competitive than Intel.

I only consider one DEI related class when hiring
Which team? And I don't think people who likes to work at Amazon going to do post about how good it is. Read lot of comments saying good about amazon on the posts you referring to
