Anyone else deeply bothered by the stock market gains today?

Maybe I’m shortsighted, but I feel deeply troubled/confused by the recent stock market upward trajectory.

For example, Shopify stock gained 11% today and is at $500 which is very close to where it was at before the Covid-19 dip in March.

Is this Wall Street optimism in defeating the virus? Or artificial inflation as a result of the money printing? Or something else I can’t think of?

Discussions/Opions are welcome :) Just want to talk to people about it and hear your thoughts?

The economy is fundamentally strong. It’s optimism that we will be back on the right track in 2-3 months.

No, it’s not. Not even close. You need to get your information about “the economy” from something other than CNBC.

When the feds pump that much money in what do expect? All this is due to inflation. At the end of the day, people who had debts or held Securities won out. People held cash got f*** over.

Newbies worry about stocks being low. Intermediate investors worry about stocks being high. Advanced investors know stocks are usually at all-time highs.

Priced in. New cases are in a downward trend. States are talking about reopening. The end is in sight.

Lol to all the idiots talking about "priced in" theory. No one can model the valuations of earnings at that time horizon, let alone a week.

    • You do realize Lehmann actually defaulted right? As of now, it's an expectation of low earnings over next few quarters, NOT default
      Apr 14, 2020
    • "priced in" doesn't have anything to do with valuations of earnings.

It simply means that a large fraction of investors have digested "the information", and have already bought or sold as much as they wanted to.
