I’ve been chatting with Google for the past three months about a specialist role. There’s not a large supply of people in my domain, so they’ve been selling hard.
They’re offering me significantly more TC (1.5X current) and the team is very strong, but the role itself feels smaller than what I do now. It’s also hard to give up what’s been a fast promo growth trajectory at Meta and buy-in from leadership.
I was wondering if anyone has successfully negotiated level at Google? Part of what’s holding me back is how hard it is to move up at Google, where as I’m likely to move up here in the next year. I care less about the title/level number, and more the scope and freedom that come with it.
I’m guessing this isn’t possible but curious if there’s any success stories out there. Thanks!
EDIT: Trying to go L8 -> L9
