I'm trying to give freelancing a shot in web development. I'm debating if it's worth it or if I'd be better off studying hacker rank for Google/FB. I don't want to be a corporate wage slave anymore so I'm thinking freelance is the way to go. Anyone freelance?
I freelanced twice. Won’t do it again. Time better spent building projects for myself.
I did freelance on the side. Loved it. I was working up to building my clientele base. But then I got my new job and have a non compete, so I decided not to risk it with the salary I have. :( I got all of my work off upwork.com
I think i can make more money freelancing than working at Google. I was hoping you guys would have insight, but if you freelance you wouldn't have an email to post here.
I used to to make my way through college. If you think having one boss is bad wait until you have ten and then they don't pay you
Exactly this. I freelanced for about 2.5 years, and feel I was only successful because I did most of my work with people I already knew from my previous jobs. Freelancing is the Wild West, with no big company lawyers to protect you if a client stiffs you. You have to be very, very good at reading people (and companies) for whether they will be good clients.
