Anyone worked or currently working for Gusto ? How is the culture and their product ?
I hear only great things, interviewed there and was impressed by those I met with lots of top quality talent. I ended up choosing not to move forward since I took a good offer elsewhere (not netapp) and the pay range they told me was a bit lower
Did you do the on-site or did you stop at phone screen?
I had a recruiter screen, a phone interview with a manager level peer, then phone interview with hiring manager, they sent me a test that i was expected to spend maybe 5 hours on and I cancelled at that point. All of them I was very impressed by and could see myself working with, but one of them said “a lot of us took pay cuts to come here for the ipo” not sure if thats still the case
TC may be less due to lack of share and not matching 401k. How is their products ?
Product is loved by our users and well designed. Culture is collaborative and friendly. During the interview, values and motivations alignment are just as important as technical skills.
Culture is great! Product is good and there are exciting changes ahead.
TC is not low. Equity is high and it's likely going to be worth a lot more. I would take Gusto TC any day over 2x TC at Lyft/Uber/WeWork. It's de risked and has solid financials.
Depends which team you’re on - some orgs are paid at the Bay Area median, some paid above. Eng was previously underpaid which made recruitment difficult but I heard they recently increased Eng TC and now we’re getting a lot higher acceptance rates. Some inexperienced managers (internally promoted over the years), culture on the marketing team is stressful af due to leadership; overall, I do think the company is poised for growth though, and people are really nice! WLB is solid - I took about 4 weeks off this year on top of normal holidays, and nobody batted an eye.
That’s good to hear, though I’m conflicted on the internal promotions, can be good or bad, usually larger orgs have less of that. How do you like the payroll space overall? Does everyone have an excitement on the product itself ?
Has anyone worked with Lexi or had an interview with her?
Following. I want to know too
