Most of TCs that I had seen here are from software professional. Anyone in sales making more than $400k+... Sales is lucrative field to be in but i haven't seen anyone in Sales making this much.
Enterprise sales definitely can.
What type of sales? Software? Yachts? Real estate? Investment banking? Companies? There are plenty of multimillionaire salespeople.
Technical Marketing TC $300k-400k sr. director level, it gets really crazy at svp level
I’m in sales. The truth is 99% of sales professionals in tech never reach more than 250k. A very small group make 300k plus but even that it’s never consistent. This is the truth about enterprise sales please stop spreading lies
Also this is for direct salesman not managers not directors not VP’s of course with promo things change.
Saas sales individual contributors can make 100-270 ote where I am and that's not even Enterprise. Real take home can exceed 500, but for every one of those people there are 20 who don't make ote. Dir level myself with a few years of experience and I've had two 300k years in a row on a 250 ote
What’s ote
OTE : on target earnings, basically TC at 100% of quota for sales people. I've been in tech sales 10+ years and had w2 over 300k the last couple. Most enterprise / software AE comp plans are 250-300k these days and definitely can find 300-400k in bigger hunter roles in bay area. Over 400k really only possible if you have an uncapped commission plan and blow it out.
You’ll be very lucky doing pure sales and hit $400k TC. I’ve had some friends in the heyday of yahoo making $500k in ad sales. Then the company sees that and increases your targets, assuring that you’ll never hit high numbers anymore. Even If you read about Tim Armstrong, essentially the first google search sales person hitting a few multi-million dollar deals. Then google then hires tons more sales people and floods the market, cutting into his upside. The only way to go from there is into management
Yup this happened to a lot of good sales folks in display when I was there too I was happy to be on the account management side and not have to deal with that level of high commission low base stress. Most of the folks who hit their numbers in $500k range did end up keeping their jobs though after the merger but folks below that didn’t.
My uncle does enterprise sales. It seems he either makes high 6 figures, or gets fired. Not much in between. Those high numbers averaged out for time you stayed unemployed probably comes out close to L4/L5 eng TC
I'm a Hunter @ a B2B Sales company. 300k is doable if you hit 120% of quota
What product?
BPO services
Super interested in sales, how to get in? I am in the DC area.

It's always other people's stories right?
