Is there anyone on blind with a less than 100k TC. Or is it just me Yoe : 3 (2 years in india +1 year in US)
too bad alot of our QA team is gone. Think they would have paid you more
I spent 5 years under 100k tc. Plug away now and job hop when you hit a promotion ceiling. Or decide that TC isn't everything and stay where you're happy
Lol. I’m under less than $100k. I’m in hardware (Design Verification). Been in industry for two years. It makes me sad whenever I see SW pay ☹️
Yes, SWE in London. 1st in CS from UCL. Started out at £25k 5 years ago, now £55k. I've never job hopped for more pay, neither have I really asked for more (I did once when I was tech lead for a while and the team coffees were burning a hole in my pocket). Reading Blind sometimes makes me wonder if I'm insane, but I earned more than both my parents and siblings combined straight out of University so I've never really wanted more. I'd personally like to see people caring less about TC and more about the actual problems in the world, but that's just me 😄
Unless you are working for a non-profit (and even then, to some extent), you are being taken advantage of if you are being paid less than you are worth. It's not being greedy to ask for what you deserve.
Thanks for your reply! To be perfectly honest I don't think almost anyone working in this industry deserves what they are being paid, but then - that's just me. Not at a non-profit FWIW, at a longstanding 'unicorn' startup. I'm thinking of making the jump to a non-profit but the question is which one, or if that's even the best thing I could be doing with my time to do the most good for the most people. Life is difficult 😬
Yup, operations at about 60k. Was 45k 3 years ago (first job out of college).
What city? Our ops is making 120K+, easily.
San Francisco!
I was at $85k cash less than four years ago while in Ops and am almost double that now after a promotion and moving to analytics, all while still staying in the startup world. Hang in there! Work hard, ask for responsibility, and execute well to get a promotion. If you’re in a non tech position, learn how to code or at least learn SQL/Excel so you can do analytics.
1 YOE in Detroit. Slightly under that mark. Stock options help make it feel better.
$60k (slightly less) with 2YOE. Operations/supplier management. Idk if I’m underpaid or not but it certainly feels like it ha.
*waves in pauvrety* YoE : 1 (Europe)
