Based on posts here, levels.fyi, and packed colleagues got that left recently, I feel underpaid by about 30%. Has anyone tried asking for more money at bloomberg? I feel they should respect they I asked they before I got a competing offer but also not sure how that looks
Most banks/fintech aren’t good with this. They hire laterally at the same level to backfill at 50% higher, but won’t pay up a current employee.
It is extremely difficult but not impossible. It is case by case specific. If you work in global data you are considered cheap labor, engineering then yes
Sorry, yeah in ENG, ~7 YOE and a TL. Just never encountered this situation before
Why is literally every post about Bloomberg?
Was thinking the same
I will shine some light on your dilemma )) because there has been happening a big campaign within Bloomberg within last years selling the idea of Bloomberg being a tech company (which is true). Lots of people realising that start comparing their lives to other big names ... And that raises all these questions ..salaries .. potentials.. perks. in all of these Bloomberg falls short and it bothers people. ) Simple ?!
Why don't you just test the market? You are only underpaid if someone else is willing to pay you more.
Well, I was thinking about that, and probably will. But common sense would say my management would appreciate me coming to them and discussing before interviewing and getting a competing offer but I understand it may not work that way
You do that and you are thrown out of BB
What's your current TC breakdown? As other said, it's hard to move up in finance companies after you hit about 200K tc.
