I have an OK offer in engineering with modest bump / title bump. But I saw some flags and was wondering if my gut is right. * 50% engineers are contractor (though none on the team I’d join) * PE firm looking to exit, which likely means new PE and layoffs * Everyone I interviewed with was same ethnicity - worried about lack of tech diversity
I don’t have any experience with Staples Engineering; but used to work retail management for them. That entire company is a clusterfuck.
Take the pay but not title. If coming in with higher title as outsider can create a lot of problems
TC or
everyone at Chewy lol
Depends on what area you land in. There are some huge projects that have been rolling out, and in my experience, people get driven really hard. Most engineers I know work many nights/weekends. 60+ hour weeks are not uncommon. The company has lost much of its best talent over the last several years, and honestly, there really isn't much optimism about the future. Just my $0.02
Agreed, there’s a long road ahead to improve the course of the company and the culture. There’s a lot on the radar in 2020, especially in Supply Chain so there is light at the end of the tunnel, but your experience will really be shaped by your team dynamic.
Staple is furloughing employees. Check the business health before considering
Why do you want to stick around the Boston area? Move out for better opportunities!
Own my house outright. Kids in an awesome school district. Family is within an easy drive making holidays easy. Oh yeah, and spouse in health research which is HUGE around here.
Yup makes sense for you to stick around.
