Disappointed in Uber’s corona response — WFH policy is still “talk to manager if you’re uncomfortable”

Twitter, our neighbor in SF, has sent everyone to WFH.

Square, our building mate, has sent everyone to WFH.

As of this morning, LI, G, and FB are all sending their employees to WFH.

Uber? Leadership told us encouraging WFH doesn’t make sense at the moment, and to just talk to your manager if you feel “uncomfortable.” I haven’t seen a single person WFH as a result, because no one wants to be seen as a slacker on their team. #covid-19 #coronavirus #uber

Even Amazon is telling people to wfh on most teams. You know you suck as a company when you care about your employees less than Amazon 😂

Peeps, leadership have been very clear that if you feel safer working from home then do so. Stop getting bent out of shape and twisting the narrative. Nobody is insisting you come in to the office, if your specific managers are then they are idiots but that is not company policy. Communication has been clear and not sure why you are saying Uber doesn’t care about employees?

    • Peeps ? I am sure you are the leadership - when some come to office and some don’t it creates two groups and it can cause issues - clarity should be that default is working from home and if you come to office , take permission and give reasons - simple . If leadership is honest they will also know the (indirect) implications of their communication . ( I worked in uber so I know how the leadership is and how arrogant some seniors are)

    • The very line: nobody is insisting you... shows your ignorance and callous attitude. It would have been better if you would have not responded to the thread.
