Thinking about joining AppDynamics. What is it like in terms of culture vs. the overall Cisco culture, etc. What is the RSU and bonus situation? AppDynamics/Cisco does not have much info on Levels.fyi, so what are the compensation levels/categories, etc. I just need the general TC info, I’m not dealing with hcol, location bullshit—I’m asking for the same pay folks in SV get, fuck it—new normal and all, lol) Also, is the business good in terms of the COVID-19/locked down economy, etc. #offer #tech
Cisco is really bad culture unless app dynamic is really good and maintained it . I joined one of the acquired companies by Cisco les than a year and really really regret it for the culture . May be it’s the company that got acquired had bad culture to being with . Watever pls check on culture aspect before u join! Also if you are on visa , Cisco sucks with GC - they keep doing layoffs every 6 months causing substantial delays and their SLA with fragomen is a cheap one I think - all Of it works like in a third world country ... super slow !!!
Levels.fyi actually has good info about Cisco compensation. What grade are you expecting? TC depends on that. Cisco SJ culture sucks! AppD, being a separate entity is prolly better and have heard good things. Cisco as a parent company just stays afloat. It's like a sloth - lazy and doesn't move in the sense of growth. It doesn't or I don't perceive it failing anytime soon as well. I not at either of them currently.
AppD is a big bet for the company...AppD is getting all resources that’s requested/required. Chuck Robbins has weekly check-ins and they operate autonomously from the rest of the company. Lots of upside for many years...vision is solid, just need to execute. Solid performers (not those looking for a mere paycheck or 9 to 5 job) will find wealth (fiscally and professionally). Been here for 22+ years...good history book to go by vs the drive-by’s.

Appd has better culture than core cisco, they work together as a single unit in many teams, i have seen a few toxic ones.They are trying to integrate with core cisco but know how fast ideas get accepted in cisco it may never happen
I’m not aware of any integration plans with Cisco core being rejected outright. In fact, it’s quite the opposite. Granted it’s slower than anticipated, but integrations are easier said than done. Can you elaborate on rejected integrations? Not rejecting your claim, just curious, perhaps advocate.
Can you share details on offer, profile etc? Generally, AppD is not what it was. Yes, better than cisco culture but there is too much politics at the top and the politicians dont understand what should happen at the bottom. Great if you want to take it easy. And also depends on your manager.
Agreed. If you are not part of the chosen few there is little advancement possible here. The culture is definitely different than Cisco but it definitely isn’t the culture that was before. I would approach with caution and realize that once you join, advancement, raises, etc will be a challenge.
The culture, work and wlb is great at Appd. It had been the same since before being acquired by Cisco. The only changes after acquisition are that development has slowed down a bit due to introduction of more processes and the quantum of appraisals/refreshers have reduced. Otherwise Appd has largely been able to keep its autonomy in terms of roadmap. Also, Cisco being a large company has given a lot of good processes to appd.
TC def depends on grade level. After having worked at both, I can pretty confidently say culture at AppD is 100x better than at Cisco. People are more driven and team-oriented. There is politics, sure! But I’ve yet to hear a company (other than some small early stage startups) that does not have this problem.

AppD seems to hire smart people, and was acquired recently enough that the Cisco invasion hasn't really taken hold. Good place to work now. Maybe not in three or four years.
