I’ve had a somewhat confusing experience applying to Apple and was wondering if anybody might be able to shed some light on what could be going on behind the scenes. I was formerly a grad-level AI/ML intern and received positive feedback at the end of my internship. The hiring manager invited me back to give an abbreviated interview for a full-time position. Fast forward to today, three weeks after the onsite, and I heard from my recruiter that they’re having headcount issues and won’t be moving forward. Have there been any recent changes in headcount for AI/ML? I asked the hiring manager about headcount during the onsite and was told there was plenty. My recruiter did offer to connect me to other teams and potentially invite me out for another abbreviated on-site. Any thoughts on what might have happened? Are they just letting me down easy? Please feel free to DM me if you’d rather not post publically. TC: 30k (research assistant 🤑), 175k before grad school.
Word is that too many AI / ML staff were added too quickly and now they need VP level approval for any additional.
Is that recent, within the last ~3 weeks?
I heard it before the thanksgiving shutdown
Ask about outside of Apple Park where that constraint maybe isn’t there...
Will do, thanks. Have you heard anything about headcount at AP specifically? My recruiter seemed to suggest it was a director (or higher) level issue, not necessarily a matter of workplace location.
Yes. Are you open to Pittsburgh? Seattle? Etc

Enraged that kids prefer KPop to Bollywood. Installed cams in their rooms.
is this for Seattle or Cupertino? And why did you go back to grad school? Was it because you wanted to pivot to ML?
