I got an Apple new grad offer for a team under Siri. Recruiter is only giving me a week to consider b/c their HC is full & this is the last spot. I like the team & the interviewers but I'm also waiting on a Google return offer (just finished an internship with google), and have onsite scheduled with Jane Street end of this week. Any advice on how to proceed? Or any insights on the benefits, pay, and culture of Apple v.s. Google v.s. Jane Street? Apple Offer: 135k base 150k RSU over 4years 25k sign-on 10k Relocation
Accept apple for now, if Google makes an offer take it... Google is better than apple ( mobile and related services company)
One week is not an exploding offer. It’s an offer that expires that day.
This is a good offer for a new grad
Jane street will probably pay you more if you get it btw. Fintech tends to be higher in general (though you'll probably have to work longer hours). As a new grad I'd recommend focusing on which company you think you'll grow more. The skills you acquire now will be far more important in the long run than 25k/year at starting.
25k/year? Our new grad offers beat that by at least 50k-75k.
Would you mind sharing what the new grad offer for SWE at JS is like?
Accept Apple but wait for JS (granted you do well in their interviews). Unless you really want to go to Google and/or they give you a better offer. Siri org at Apple compensates well
Would it still be possible to negotiate if I accept the offer? Will I be blacklisted if I accept an offer then turn it down later?
Not too sure, but most likely will be blacklisted and no negotiations after accepting. Depends on what you want. If you enjoyed your internship and want to go back, then it seems like you’ve already made up your mind, given G gives you an offer. Siri sucks compared to the other AI assistants out there, but that means more opportunity for growth for you as an engineer and more impact even as a junior engineer (and also means the company is investing more money into the team). If you’re looking for most money, JS is the obvious choice. You’ll make bank there, especially as you progress in your career there. And you get to live in NYC, which is a lot nicer for young professionals (especially males).
I would tell the recruiter that you’re sad that you won’t be able to work for them because of a couple of weeks timing issue, but thanks for the opportunity. If they let you walk away over a few weeks they probably aren’t worth working for.
New grad is competitive. They have tons of people in waitlist. If you dont take it, others will.
Email Google and Jane Street recruiters, stressing you have deadline and ask for counter offers asap
I would pick one between Google and Jane Street (of kind) Google return offer takes long, up to 60 days, maybe not including team matching. Lol. I guessed you already passed the two conversion interviews? Jane Street (of kind) interviews are a little different from high tech ones, but worth trying. Even you don’t make it this time, you can always try other HFT/HF companies or get back to high tech.
Google numbers? Apple is pretty high.
Accept apple then wait for google, interview around. Those numbers are ok but you can negotiate https://leetcode.com/discuss/compensation/298397/Apple-New-grad-ICT-3-offer
