apple recruiter is pushing for expectation numbers after I clearly stated I don’t feel comfortable doing so. what should I do? hardware engineer ic4-ic5 6 yoe and phd. very positive feedback. #appleoffer#tc #apple
OP, what is your IC level and TC at brcm? Any reason why you wanna leave? I am also curious what apple could offer.
Not in a nice team in brdcm. Tc is at 300k/yr.
This is standard procedure.
Ask for whatever you feel is just slightly "too much".
450k
Are they offering you ic5 with phd+6 yoe? That's unheard of! Great job. With ic4, I guess your comp at broadcom must be atleast 300k, you should aim for atleast 350k if ic4.
Don’t know yet. I will update here once I know. Yes tc at brdcm is 300k. Exactly aiming for 350+ at 4th quadrant ic4.
How did you work around this problem? i am in a similar boat right now with both Apple and another company. One recruiter asked expectations on the phone, I was able to steer the discussion to not give a number. The other one sent me a table in an email to fill out with all details of expectations for the package. What do you do in these situations?
They put me in a limbo for a month until i gave some numbers. Then they gave me offer.
That is slow. What is the offer? Better than brcm?
OP, can you share your offer?

If you want them to say a number first, ask what the potential salary range is for the role. That should give you a sense of if you're thinking in the same general magnitude for direct compensation.
Don't do this, they will only pigeon hole you. Come up with a number you think is reasonable and then add to that and then tell them that new number(s).
In California they are required to give you a range for the position. Asking for a range is a good idea
