(Apple) How to appeal a rescinded internal INTL transfer?
Hi peeps so this is for Apple folks I’m posting for my wife who is a team manager at Apple. She was offered an international promotion which would have sent her overseas passed all the interviews got a verbal offer...waited about 3 months only to have an EVP deny the relocation request. Odd considering Apple is hurting in that market and she’s a native speaker with near perfect English and management skills. Apparently they felt her hiring manager didn’t try hard enough to find locals for the job but she’s from that country and just became a US Citizen last summer. Is there realistically anything she could or should do given Apple culture to appeal this? She’s literally been depressed ever since she found out and I just don’t know what to advise her to do? I mean obviously emailing Tim Cook would probably get her fired but short of that would setting up a 1:1 with the EVP who blocked it help or hurt her? You hear stories about how matrixed the organization with strict hierarchy and her potential boss seems like he’s afraid to rock the boat despite really wanting her for the role. Thanks in advance! I have generally felt good about the 1:1 at all levels. Feels like the decision was made purely in cost basis I have heard a few instances where international transfers have been denied purely on a cost basis. Is she willing to give up some relocation benefits, she can put it forward
Yeah she’s more than willing to do so since it would mean she’s jumping up a few levels...if you’re open to a a PM I can share more specifics? She’s more than qualified and beat out like 20 local candidates so it seems like an out of touch decision IMHO
