I was told by a friend in Apple that IC4 requires about 10 YOE for MS and about 5 YOE for Phd for a chip design role. Is this true? I am expecting 5 YOE for MS to qualify IC4
5 YOE definitely sounds low for IC4 but it is a wide spectrum
What's the median YOE of IC4? 7?
I’m not in HR so don’t have the stats. I joined at IC4 with 10 YOE. Granted probably on the higher end.
I know people join at ICT5 at 10YOE with MS
I know them too. Its me
Your friend is guessing at best. It doesn’t require years of experience, it requires performance at ICT3 that warrants a promotion. And of course a manager who thinks you should be one, and others agreeing. Or of course some other indication of ability that jibes with it, if you got hired at that level
Does anyone know refresher for M2 and above at Apple ?
I joined as ICT5 with 20YOE and MS
Do you mind if you could share your refresher value ?
It heavily depends on org, I do have friends become ICT4 within 3 years, and I was in a shitty org that would take about 15...
What's the typical TC for hardware IC4?
280-350
Yes 5 yoe is definitely enough for ict4 if all of those years are at Apple. Apple definitely tends to reward those that have been at the company a long time if you perform. If you are new, you have to prove yourself
There are documented criteria for each level. If you fit into that role you can get the promotion, if you don’t you stay at your level. Number of years don’t matter much.
You qualify for ICT3
