Apple ICT3 vs Google L3
Received these two offers and I'm curious what folks think. I have 1 yoe. Apple ICT3, NYC TC: 210 + 50 signing Google L3, Kirkland TC: 180 + 50 signing Important to me: Interesting work, career progression, TC progression Less important: WLB Location wise, I like NYC more than Kirkland but I think I could live with either choice.
ict3 is technically the equivalent of L4
Have you found your current level important when interviewing at other companies? Just curious, I don't have much experience with this.
not really. it's more about scope of impact of your experience and how much you have. for example a principle engineer at amazon is going to have a lot more impact than a staff engineer at fb, despite being equivalent levels. All that being said, outside of ML, ICT3 at apple will generally have more impactful work than L3 at G.
You are young, so definitely try out NYC and focus on dating. Don't come to Kirkland like the herd, there is time for such boring life later in life.

Take Apple. ICT3 refreshers will be better than L3 refreshers
I’ve been ICT4 for 4 years and I make 205k. My manager telling me I make more than others, lol

What’s the Apple breakdown?
Apple is paying you more and it’s in a location you prefer, so I’d go for that!
Thanks, I guess it's hard for me because after cost of living difference I think TC is similar. Also I'll probably get promoted to L4 faster and get a TC bump then.
TC is about the same, not even factoring in COL. Google Kirkland has no state income tax
