YOE: 6.5+ Coinbase TC: 355K SGD Role: IC5 Base: 185K SGD Bonus: 10% (for average performance) Stock: 131K USD (per year) Remaining: SignOn + Flexi Offer Non-negotiable Updated: Stock is 131 USD is per year. So Coinbase offer becomes much more attractive in terms of pay. Apple TC: 200K GBP Role: ICT4 Base: 105K GBP Bonus: Not Fixed (recruiter said it is there but not hard defined) Stock: 270K USD (4 years) Signon: 40K GBP Negotiation: DONE Overall compensation of Coinbase is considerably higher than Apple given the tax rates. But Coinbase stock price is dropping continuously. And I have heard very poor work life balance in Coinbase. I want to consider a long-term career in the company with good prospect of growth. Any advice in making my choice? Thanks in advance. #apple #coinbase #london #singapore #ict4 #ic5
Add poor work life balance of coinbase to poor work life balance of Asia in general, it'll be quite rough in my opinion. Frankly, I think given very different cities, especially cultures to live in, you should focus on where you want to live because both offers are good. Also, going forward, both cities have lot of opportunities for you. All the best and congrats on the offers :)
I negotiated on apple offer by looking through blind at the salaries for ICT4 with 7 YOE. I feel the offer is good for London. Is apple lowballing me? Any idea?
I think it's a good offer. Facebook E5, Apple ICT4 is more or less like this. It could go to 200-210k if your interviews were excellent but the offer is not Lowball at all in my opinion. You are also not counting cash bonus at the moment.
Are you sure Coinbase offer equity is / 4 years? I actually think it’s 140k USD per year.
Apple is not great wlb. I actually find it really annoying dealing with one of our uk teams who have that mentality when the us team is under tight deadlines. The point of me saying that is to ensure the wlb conclusion is real and not in conflict with something their us counterpart thinks. Also you have almost no upward mobility in the uk at apple unless you move to the us.
Do they allow to take transfer to us??
I do know several from the uk who made the move but these were highly talented individuals that we needed here and they stayed on the same team.
Any consideration of family or life stage? Unfortunately given Singapore, your nationality and/or ethnicity is also a factor. Having lived in Singapore almost a decade, I'd pick London. Think its a more happening, vibrant city but of course this is not based on the data you've shared.
Apple any day. Coinbase stock is plummeting and crypto trading volumes will shrink in the next 2 years when people go back to office fully.
I totally agree. Historically it seems evident that crypto trading is a leisure activity. Currently skyrocketing due to COVID. Once people start going to office, the enthusiasm will fade. That's the reason despite getting more stock in coinbase, the long term value can be lesser. Apple gives refresher.
NFTs , web3 are all fad. Not sure if they’ll be a thing in 2/3 years. London is any day better than singapore. There’s a path to citizenship and gateway to travel and explore Europe in leisure.
355k in Singapore is insane, take it
How was the interview like for Coinbase?
Consider other factors like weather, family etc. while making this decision.
Hi Op, what did you choose? Coinbase or Apple?
Coinbase might not be around in 3-5-10 years. If you think about this job short term for money then coinbase. If you want to build a better resume/think long term then its apple. I guess you can make a bigger impact at coinbase if you work hard there so thats a plus as well. This is far from black and white, so people here will just be able to give pointers.
Curious why you think Coinbase won’t be here to stay. I’m not huge on crypto and see it as a fad but I do think it’s prevalent enough now for exchanges to survive in the long term.
