So i interned at apple over the summer and got a return offer. before committing to the team i wanted to interview with other teams at apple to see what else is out there. since they have a one offer rule i had to choose a team before getting offer details. so anyways my internship ends and about 1.5 later after interviewing with other teams i decide to commit to my internship team and start talking offer details. its been 3 weeks since we first started the conversation and while the recruiter has been responsive shes been telling me shes waiting on my manager for offer details. what exactly could those details be? doesnt the recruiter just give the standard offer for ict2 for new grads and neogotiate from there? what could possibly be the hold up that could take 3 weeks and what details does my manager need to give?
Did u not interview with other companies by now ?
Yes I did. I guess I made a mistake of cancelling a lot of my interviews because I wanted to prioritize certain companies. I finished my onsite with google more than 3 weeks ago but I’m assuming the hiring freeze issue at google is really hindering the process for me there
You should always interview for the competing offers to avoid getting lowballed
Without competing offers (external or internal) you are somewhat at the mercy of the system. Granted it seems as if your manager wants you bad enough to push through some resistance. Leetcoding and interviewing else where is never a waste of time, don’t assume you have a job until you’ve signed on the dotted line.
Confirming head count? This isn’t immediate start but a return offer that likely takes place the year after.
Yeah that makes sense. I was told before my internship ended that there’s no spots on the team but they will open up a position for me given that I take the offer and that my director has given permission for that. I’m just a bit worried that it’s taking so long and that my offer might get revoked because of that
Revoked on what grounds? It would be totally unreasonable, given you could have easily interviewed for other teams. And the investment for an intern is immense, they wouldn’t just throw that away and spend more time/money hiring another grad which may or may not be a fit.
