I saw a couple of posts asking aboutApple SRE interviews and so sharing my experience here. Applied on the career portal and received an email from the recruiter after a couple of weeks. The interviewer asked to fill up a Word Doc which had questionnaire. It basically asked to rate myself on various skills like Programming, Distributed Systems, Networking etc. another important questions was whether I wanted to have a Systems or Software centric interview. After a couple of days, received an email from recruiter for initial tech screen. It was 1 hour interview with half the time for a coding question and another half of Linux basics. Received positive feedback and asked to schedule an interview loop. The loop had 4 interviews. Remember from first step, I had selected Systems centric interview so I had 2 interviews on Linux, one on Systems+Manager (easy), one coding. If someone selected Software centric interviews, the will have 2 Coding, 1 Linux and 1 Manager round. It took 5 business days to get the feedback and I got Intent to Offer. Afterwards the recruiter arranged for a couple of meetings with HM, these are more of discussions to understand what the teams do. I also had opportunity to ask questions on culture, on-call rotations etc. This is basically to find a team fit. The final work location also depends upon this. I will update this thread with offer and location once it is finalized. I have competing offers and will make a decision to join or not based on what Apple comes up with. Could you give more info on the coding interview? And any LC?
LC easy. I used Python and questions were string parsing/filtering.
Any tips on how you prepared for the systems and Linux part?
Congrats! What’s your YOE and current title?
Thanks, updated the post with info.
Being systems centric how hard were the Linux questions? What topics did they ask about and in how much detail?
Questions were easy to average in difficulty level and were mostly based on previous experience. There were a few instances when they tried going into detail but I was not able to answer. I guess I am being offered ICT3 for the same reason.
Any advice on what to read/watch for linux systems part? I am reading stuff from sre interview prep guide github page right now.
Doing the same. Have the first round of HM interview coming up
I did the same. Searched google for videos on some of the topics I was not much familiar with.
Which team did you pick OP ?
Big data platform.
Congrats 🎉
anyone here who can do my mock round? I have an upcoming phone screen with apple acs sre team.
I reached out to the recruiter after 3 days. In my experience with Apple, I had to follow up with the recruiter every time, they do not come back on their own.
Any updates?
Great post! Actually appreciate u responding and sharing your experience
