I’m currently a product manager and evaluating the program manager role only to transition to a PM role later within Apple

Don’t do it. It’s an administrative job.

Doesn’t work that way.

Thanks. I have the same feeling about the job at Apple and I don’t want to leave my PM role at HP. Although Apple is paying way more than what I’m getting at HP

People here will nail me to the cross for saying this — money is not everything. You are a human being and have value. You ought to live a fulfilling life. Do what you find is interesting, prestigious and gives you satisfaction.

I got an offer earlier this year after a recruiter reached out. It was an easy NO for me. Here’s why: 1. There’s nothing aspirational about their work. They market themselves as well-rounded problem solvers but they just follow a playbook. Minimal critical thinking is involved. This was also reflected in their interview questions around a case - they seemed to be looking for specific answers that support their existing processes rather than testing true problem solving skills. 2. No one seemed excited about their role. See comments above about glorified admin work. 3. Limited upward mobility. They were pretty open about having to “do your time and wait your turn” In the end, I knew I wouldn’t be challenged by the work or people, no matter the comp.
